DCMM meeting, group goals discussed per 12/19/06:
- strengthen local vlog community
- promote media literacy
- launch vlog festival, possibly host it at multiple DC locations
- produce a video project that benefits the community e.g. something worthwhile
- capture local DC-area stories for a collaborative group project
- offer general vlog training to newbies
- promote fun in new media as a group
- engage in healthy competition on a project with cross-country new media groups
- invite speakers to address DCMM
- screen works both by members & works that impressed members but one's they did not originate
- enter the 48 Hour Film project this May as a team
- improve line of questioning for filmed interviews for vlog series/documentary
- outreach to blogger community re: vlogging benefits
- improve audio techniques
- train on video shooting
- train on video editing
- study best practices of video
- raise awareness of video
- host workshops or reach out in some way to disenfranchised groups on vlogging benefits
- provide creative & technical feedback on projects/pitches
- learn current technology related to video
- understand further how teachers can utilize video tech as a communications tool w/ other teachers
and other related communities, including education policy makers
- learn how to commercialize video projects
- create a unique identity for vlog series
